Your commitment to getting the Veterans Pledge passed will be an added distinction to your legacy of supporting veterans.

How should this Veterans Pledge be incorporated into our everyday lives?

1

Students in New Jersey will say the pledge immediately after the Pledge of Allegiance as instructed by their teacher at least once a month. Teachers will have the flexibility to initiate the Veteran’s Pledge more than once a month if they choose.

2

The Veterans Pledge takes only 17 seconds to recite.

3

During the Veterans Pledge, a video of veterans will be played across the smartboard. The video montage can be created from the Arlington National Cemetery archives or independently by the school district to honor veterans from that state. The video may ultimately be no more than 25 seconds in total.

4

Students should remain standing during the Veterans Pledge, in line with N.J.S.A. 18A:36-3
(Display of and salute to flag; pledge of allegiance, See link).

5

In addition, this Veterans Pledge should also be incorporated into public body events in accordance with Assembly 2866, 218th Legislature bill sponsored by Assemblyman Ronald S. Dancer, which authorizes recitation of Pledge of Allegiance by public body at public meeting; permits discretionary court award of certain fees and costs to public body.
